ANTIQUE RITCHIE EARLY MODEL GLOBEMASTER BRASS HOODED 5" BINNACLE MOUNT COMPASS completely original with original switch and cord remnant for lighting underneath the compass. It was discovered in a home, the brass is tarnished on the binnacle, except for the sliding doors as it was stored away for years with the doors in the open position. The compass does not have any liquid inside it presently, and there is some oxidation on the center ball. There are four stems on the points of direction, one is bent and I do not dare try to bend it upwards in fear of it snapping off. I removed all of the top glass bezel brass screws to clean the glass dome only, and replaced it. The original seal remains and is tight, but as shown it bubbled over through the years and will need a reseal when restoring and refilling. It is a beautiful compass made by the E.S. Ritchie Co. of Boston and is well worthy of restoration and polishing. Please ask specific questions prior to bidding, it is being sold as it is and as it was found.
