*The external hard drive must be connected and turned on before the unit is powered up, or it will default to the internal storage.  In this case, the external drive would need to be re-acquired and re-scanned.  Channel Master has discontinued this DVR, and therefore OS updates are no longer available.  This unit scans, stores, plays, and records local ATSC channels.  It connects to the Internet and retrieves guide information.  The YouTube app connected and played on this unit.  However, other apps were not tested.  The ability of this unit's remote to control TV's and the connection for the external hard drive were not tested.  This unit does not have an internal volume control because Channel Master assumes you will control an external TV with the included remote.  Functionality beyond the DVR's ability to
scan, store, play, and record local ATSC channels
is not guaranteed.  Because Channel Master has discontinued this unit, the information from their web site below may no longer be entirely accurate.

What are some common items I should know about DVR+?
DVR+ is an over-the-air broadcast receiver that is not compatible with existing satellite or cable services, and does not support cable cards or Clear QAM
Wi-Fi is not built in. If you wish to connect to the Internet wirelessly, an optional Wi-Fi Adapter will be required. Only the Channel Master brand Wi-Fi Adapter has been certified as 100% compatible with the DVR+.
The DVR+ TV connection is HDMI only, the unit does not function as a converter box and is not compatible with older analog televisions
Full DVR functionality and expanded storage capacity requires an external USB hard drive (not included), internal memory will record up to 2 hrs of HD programming out of the box
Programming reception requires an over-the-air antenna (not included)
Storage capacity/recording hours is dependent on the external USB hard drive connected to the DVR+ (Most external USB hard drive will be compatible but Channel Master has thoroughly tested and recommends; 1TB Toshiba EHD (HDTB310XK3AA)
Only one HDD can be active at a time. When an EHD is connected, the internal HDD is no longer in use.
