Description

These have been verified to be authentic brogans from the late 1800s and not reanactor’s reproductions! However, there’s no way to say whether or not they were actually in the Civil War. Amazingly, these have been preserved almost perfectly and the leather is still soft and supple and believe it or not these are actually wearable! They happen to be in my size and I wear a size 11 1/2. I wore these outside of my house just to get a feel of them and they are still wearable! The laces are not original, I bought those at red wing boots. These could be used or put up for display. I removed one of the nails from the heel and it is a hand made square nail. Please refer to the pictures and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me! The last picture were the boots as found before the leather was reconditioned with neatsfoot oil to preserve the leather.
To answer some questions: yes, these are actually mid to late 19th century Brogans. These were found in a wearhouse in Galveston, TX. They were in pretty good shape when found and I did clean them up a bit to preserve them, which is why they don’t look grungy and petrified like other similar Union examples that have sold.
Thanks for all the interest! I’m sure whoever wins these shoes will cherish them for years to come!
Note: PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO BUY. If you do not agree with the authenticity of these boots please do not bid. These are very old boots. From the 19th century but I am not claiming them to have been used in the civil war.
