    Description

A beautiful collectible 4 stamp block set of U.S. postage stamps issued in 1955 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Rotary Club, so named because the members originally met in rotation at each other's offices. It was founded in 1905 by Chicago lawyer, Paul P. Harris. The clubs, international in scope are devoted to achieving world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs.
The stamp features a lighted torch in front of the earth and includes the club's motto: "Service Above Self".
These stamps have never been used and are as fresh as the day they were sold at the post office over 66 years ago! Suitable for framing, they would make a great gift for anyone who has been a member of a Rotary Club.
